State-run Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) today reported a net profit of Rs
297.26 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012.
The shipping company had reported a net loss of Rs 140.60
crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2012.
Total income of the company rose by 5 percent to Rs 1,089.35
crore during the quarter under review, compared to Rs 1,037.50 crore in the
second quarter of FY'12, the company said in a filing to the BSE.
Total income included Rs 80.70 crore profit on account of
sale of ships during the second quarter. The income from sale of ships during
the corresponding quarter in the last fiscal stood at Rs 20.13 crore.
The company's total expenditure rose to Rs 1,245.63 crore
during the quarter against Rs 1,064.36 crore during the corresponding quarter
previous fiscal.
Earnings per share during the quarter stood at Rs 6.38.
During the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal, the company had
incurred a loss of Rs 3.02 per share.
Shares of the company closed at Rs 51.65 on the BSE, up 0.19
percent from the previous close.
