Reliance Power today
posted a two per cent rise in net profit to Rs 240 crore for the quarter ended
September, aided by increase in capacity addition. Anil Ambani-led company,
which has a 1,200 MW power plant at Rosa in Uttar Pradesh and a 40 MW solar
plant in Rajasthan as its commissioned capacity, had registered a post tax
profit of Rs 235 crore in the year-ago period.
The generation from the Rosa plant jumped 65 per cent to
1,655 million units during the reported period, while the solar unit generated
13.8 million units, the company's Chief Executive JP Chalasani said. He also
said the 660 MW first unit of 3,960 MW Sasan ultra mega power plant in Madhya
Pradesh will be commissioned in the next few weeks, five months ahead of
schedule.
He added that the company is on path to meet the target of
4,500 MW commissioned capacity by end of the fiscal. In the July-September
period, total income grew 57 per cent to Rs 1,181 crore. During the period, its
plant load factor at the sole Rosa project slipped to 62.5 per cent due to
shutdown at a boiler for maintenance, he said.
Amid volatile trading at the counter, R-Power scrip finally ended
flat at Rs 97.30 on the BSE. At Sasan, it has already started coal production
and accomplished boiler light-up of the first unit, he said.
At the Butibori unit in Maharashtra, where it is erecting a
total capacity of 600 MW, the first 300 MW unit has been synchronized with the
grid while the boiler light-up for the second unit of equal capacity has also
been achieved, the company said.
