GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare reported a net
profit of Rs 132 crore, up 19% year-on-year in the first quarter.
Total Income of the company, which makes nutritional
products like Horlicks, Boost and over-the-counter medicines like Crocin, rose
15% year-on-year to Rs 836.41 crore in Jan-March.
On a sequential basis, GSK Consumer's net profit more than
doubled, while total income was up 34%.
Analysts on average had expected GSK Consumer to report net
profit of Rs 130 crore on revenue of Rs 848 crore.
In the first quarter, the company's raw material costs were
3% higher year-on-year at Rs 171.9 crore. However, sequentially input costs
seem to be heading downward. They fell 11.5% compared with the Oct-Dec quarter.
GSK Consumer's advertising and promotional spends were Rs
109.14 crore in the first quarter, up 5.4% from a year ago.
GSK Consumer shares were down 2.1% at Rs 2,704.80 on NSE in
late afternoon trading on Monday.
