European plane maker Airbus has sealed a contract to sell 180 of its medium-haul A320 jets to Indian low-cost airline IndiGo, a source close to the deal told AFP on Wednesday.
The two announced plans for the $15 billion (€10 billion) deal at list prices in January, and it will be finalised into a formal order later on Wednesday, said the source who asked not to be named.
The order includes 150 of Airbus’s A320neo, a new retooled model.
A scheduled highlight on the third trade day of the Paris Air Show was to be All Nippon Airways’ unveiling of its new 787 Dreamliner, the much-delayed superjumbo by Airbus’s US rival Boeing.
Other deals and announcements by the two giant aircraft makers and smaller competitor Bombardier were due later on Wednesday.
