Auto sales zoom in September
It’s not only the bourses that have seen a fantastic September, the automobile sector too has witnessed their sales numbers zooming. Below is a detailed statistics of total number of units sold by some of major auto companies last month.
Maruti Suzuki: The numbers have started poring in and Maruti Suzuki, a major from the sector, has reported a jump in total sales from 83,306 units to 1,08,000 units including exports of 12,858 units versus 11,712 units on year-on-year (YoY) basis.
TVS Motor: Two-wheeler major TVS Motor too reported a rise in its sales for the month. The company sold 1,85,000 vehicles as against 1,70,000 vehicles on month-on-month basis. This includes exports of 19,365 units versus 19,028 units (MoM).
Mahindra & Mahindra: M&M clocked its highest-ever unit sales in September. Its total sales stood at 35,177 units. On a year-on-year basis, domestic sales recorded a 24% rise at 33,866 units from 27,431 units. For the same period, sales of its utility vehicles stood at 16,537 units vs 15,296 units. The comapny plans to increase capacity of its Maxximo in the next 2-3 months
Tata Motors: Tata Motors’ total sales (including exports) of commercial and passenger vehicles in September 2010 were 64,668 vehicles, a growth of 23% over 52,513 vehicles sold in September 2009. The company’s domestic sales grew 20% at 59,611 units against 49,650 units sold in September last year. Cumulative sales (including exports) for the company stood at 380,113 units, a growth of 39% over 273,491 units sold last year.
