Successful investing is most often directly related to sound decisions. And to take sound investment decisions, it’s imperative that you have adequate information on hand to base a decision upon. To help you make sound mutual fund investment decisions, we give you the Value Research Fund Card, a three-page factsheet that contains the relevant information on a fund. Downloadable in the PDF format from a mutual fund’s page on our website, the Fund Card is a concise and precise basket of information. The Fund Card comprises the following components:
Fund Rating: A 1- to 5-star rating based on the returns that a fund has generated, taking into account the risks taken by it.
Risk Grade: A 5-step grading of the riskiness of a fund, based on the losses it has suffered during the past five years.
Returns Grade: A 5-step grading of the returns of a fund.
History: Data on the fund’s performance history (NAV, total returns, rank within category, 52-week NAV highs and lows), performance vis-à-vis its benchmark, net assets and expense ratio.
Returns: The fund’s quarterly returns, the entire year’s returns as well as the returns data over other standard periods compared with its category and index. Over and above that, the fund’s annualised SIP returns are also displayed.
Top Holdings: The latest investment portfolio of the fund. The sector, P/E ratio and the year’s returns for each company are displayed.
Portfolio Characteristics: Market capitalisation, P/B and P/E ratio, and the 3-year earnings growth are some of the aggregate measures of the companies in the portfolio.
Fund Style: This 9-cell matrix tells you the investment style. The vertical axis shows the weighted average market capitalisation of the fund’s portfolio, while the horizontal axis denotes whether the portfolio is value, growth or blended.
Sector & Asset Weights: The percentage analysis of a fund’s investments in different sectors and the holdings held in equity, debt and cash.
Risk Analysis: These statistical measures help in evaluating the performance risk and returns of the fund.
