Direct-to-home (DTH) satellite TV service provider Dish TV India’s first quarter net loss narrowed 71% from a year ago to Rs 18.32 crore, on the back of strong growth in revenue and subscriber additions.
Its revenue for the first quarter was up 51.3% year-on-year to Rs 460.38 crore.
"Dish TV maintained its leadership with a 25% incremental market share. Going forward, consistent revenue momentum is expected due to strong subscriber additions done last year," Chairman Subhash Chandra said.
The company’s subscriber revenue for the three-month period was up 57% year-on-year to Rs 392.2 crore. Subscriber acquisition cost declined substantially to Rs 2,058, Dish TV said.
It added 7.25 lakh subscribers in the April-June quarter and had 89 lakh net subscribers as of June 30, it said. Revenue per user remained steady at Rs 150.
Dish TV’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) rose more than three-fold from a year ago to Rs 112.2 crore. EBITDA margin in the first quarter was at 24.4%, compared with 24.1% in January-March quarter.
Jawahar Goel, Dish TV’s managing director said the downward trend in net loss made bottom-line profitability visible in the coming quarters.
Dish TV shares were trading down 3.5% at Rs 89.90 on NSE in afternoon trade.
